Improving language – Copy editing
With this service, I don't only check your document for errors; I also propose changes that will improve the readability, clarity, consistency, and accuracy of your writing. I also make sure you adhere to your chosen style guide for journal submission. This process usually occurs when your manuscript has seen multiple drafts and is close to completion.
This service focuses on the creative and stylistic aspects of writing, aiming to enhance the overall quality and impact of the prose. It involves a deeper level of analysis and revision compared to copy editing, and thus occurs earlier in the writing process.
Creating content – Developmental editing
As this is the most complex of my offerings, this process occurs when you have finished your first rough draft. I will give you feedback on clarity, coherence, and strength of concept, as well as provide advice for structure and resources going forward.
Pricing
Time frames are discussed on a project basis. Depending on your deadline and the complexity of your document, prices are structured as follows (all prices in ZAR):
Proofreading: up to 25 cents/word
Copy editing: 25 cents - 35 cents/word
Line editing: 35 cents - 70 cents/word
